3i-PRINT received an award for innovation

The 3i-PRINT project, running under the leadership of csi development technology, was awarded the “German Innovation Award 2018“ in the class “Excellence in Business to Business“ in the “Machines & Engineering“ category. In addition, csi was given a distinction in the special category “Design Thinking“.

The German Innovation Award is a prize that makes innovations visible and is awarded by the “German Design Council“. It awards cross-industry products and solutions which differ from the previous solutions in particular due to user-centricity and added value. csi and its partners proved an exemplary success of this with the 3i-PRINT project.

The German Innovation Award awakened major interest in industry and economy even in its first tendering year, with over 650 submissions. Almost 40 per cent went up against the competition in the field “Excellence in Business to Consumer“ and a good 60 per cent in the field “Excellence in Business to Business“. The submissions were assessed according to the criteria level of innovation, user benefit and economic efficiency. The innovation strategy should take into consideration aspects such as social, ecological and economic sustainability, as well as use of energy and resources. Factors such as location, employment potential, longevity, market maturity, technical quality and function, materiality and synergy effects play a decisive role in the assessment process.

The jury consists of independent, interdisciplinary experts from industry, science, institutions and finance. Andrej Kupetz holds the chair, the Managing Director of the German Design Council.

... was created by the German Bundestag and is sponsored by German industry. It is active as an independent, internationally active institution for competitiveness between companies and makes a decisive contribution to knowledge transfer surrounding the subject of design. This committee‘s competitions have awarded design, brand and innovation performances of an international rank since 1953.
